Schneider Electric offers two key protective control devices for panels and control circuits: the RPM series plug-in power relays (15A, for switching heavier control loads) and the iPRD/IPRD surge arresters (for protecting equipment against transient voltage surges from lightning and switching). Both are available at myelectric.in with zero import duty to Sri Lanka under ISFTA.
RPM Power Plug-In Relays (15A)
The RPM series is a step above the RXM relay — rated 15A (vs 5A for RXM), making it suitable for switching larger control loads, motor pilot circuits, and high-current signal switching. Each RPM mounts on a dedicated socket (RPZF1 or RPZF2). Available with 1CO, 2CO, 3CO, and 4CO contact configurations.
- 1CO (SPDT): Single changeover — simplest switching circuit.
- 2CO (DPDT): Two independent changeovers — most common for power isolation and interlock.
- 3CO: Three changeovers — for 3-circuit switching from one coil.
- 4CO: Four changeovers — maximum contact count, replaces multiple smaller relays.

iPRD / IPRD Surge Arresters
Transient Voltage Surge Suppressors (TVSS / SPD Type 2) for protecting distribution panels, sensitive equipment, and building installations from lightning-induced and switching transients. Mount on DIN rail in the main distribution board.
- 8kA models: For residential and light commercial boards (Type 2 SPD).
- 65kA models: For main LV switchboards with high lightning exposure or close to overhead power lines.
- 1P+N: For single-phase boards; 3P: For 3-phase boards; 3P+N: Full protection on all conductors.
